香港挂牌全篇 The Great Cake Debate

Up next—we cross one of the most fun wedding items off our to do list…picking out our cake!

There’s so many great ideas out there for wedding desserts these days: cake, cupcakes, pie, candy bars, dessert bars, cookies, cake pops. Honestly, I’m not sure how anyone can make a decision between all these delicious treats!

For us it ended up being easy because the decision was made for us…our venue comes with a wedding cake,香港惠泽社群. So cake it is!

Our venue works with Creative Cakes Bakery. We already knew their cake is delicious because this happens to be the same bakery my brother got his wedding cake from.

They got this design in purple; it was a white cake with a raspberry filling (so we knew we wouldn’t choose any of those options…no copying here).

To start off our appointment we did some taste testing. Yum! We tested out five flavors:

1.) Vanilla – I really liked this one. My whole family are vanilla cake people; in fact, I think the only time I ever remember us eating chocolate is if Grandma makes German chocolate and then we have like two pounds of coconut to drown out the taste (and Billie hates coconut, so none of that for the wedding).

2.) Chocolate – Billie’s family members are as hardcore in the chocolate camp as mine are in vanilla. They think vanilla is plain and boring and not worth the calories…after these two we were at a standstill with neither of us willing to concede, so we continued eating!

3.) Marble – I dunno about y’all, but we consider this a lose-lose option. Neither of us wants the others flavor contaminating the cake.

4.) Banana nut (minus the nut)—all the cakes were delicious,香港挂牌全篇, but this was our least favorite. It had a really strong banana flavor, and it just didn’t feel wedding to us.

5.) Red Velvet – Surprisingly we both loved this! The cake wasn’t too heavy, and the bakery paired it with a light, sweet buttercream icing—to die for!

I think you can see where this is going…we’ll be cutting into red velvet cake come wedding day!

Up next, choosing a design. We spent some time looking through their books of options to get a feel for what we both liked. Billie really liked the simple, clean looking cakes like this one. (This was a contender for our final choice.)

I liked some of the really fancy icing/floral designs, but we decided they just didn’t feel like us.

In the end we chose this design with some color modifications.

We’ll be getting an ivory cake with teal ribbon to match our colors. I really like that the brooches will tie back to my partial brooch bouquet. And we’ll be topping it with a silver intertwined-hearts cake topper that was a gift from my aunt.

Are you going with cake or something else delicious? What flavor and design did you choose?
